ReforestArg is recognized by the UN as an Actor of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021–2030

ReforestArg, an Argentine organization dedicated to native forest restoration in Patagonia, has been officially recognized as an Actor of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021–2030, an initiative led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The confirmation came through an official letter signed by Natalia Alekseeva, Coordinator of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, recognizing ReforestArg as part of the global movement working to reverse the degradation of terrestrial and marine ecosystems throughout this decade.

Based in Cholila, Chubut, and active across the Andean Patagonian Forest, the Atlantic Forest, and Córdoba, ReforestArg has been working since 2018 to restore native forests through a model that combines its own nursery, community planting, and local job creation. To date, the organization has planted more than 536,000 native trees — including coihue and Patagonian cypress — and restored 660 hectares, while creating 57 local jobs in the communities where it operates.

As an Actor of the Decade, ReforestArg will be able to use the initiative’s official visual identity, contribute content to the news section and Digital Hub of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration website, and become part of the global network of organizations working within this United Nations framework.
